Hydrophilic Fumed Silica has excellent dispersibility in water-based systems. It can easily be incorporated into 

water-based adhesives and sealants without the need for additional dispersing agents. This makes it a cost-effective 

and efficient additive for formulators.


The excellent dispersibility of hydrophilic Fumed Silica is due to its unique surface properties. Hydrophilic fumed silica 

particles have a large surface area and a high surface energy, which allows them to interact strongly with liquid media, 

such as water.

The surface of hydrophilic fumed silica is covered with hydroxyl (-OH) groups, which makes it highly hydrophilic. These 

hydroxyl groups can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules, promoting the dispersion of the silica particles in aqueous 

systems.

Additionally, hydrophilic fumed silica particles have a fine and fluffy structure, with primary particles that are typically 7-40 

nanometers in size. This fine particle size, combined with a high degree of agglomeration, allows for easy dispersion in 

liquids.

The dispersibility of hydrophilic fumed silica is further enhanced by the use of surface treatments. Surface treatments can 

modify the surface chemistry of the silica particles, making them more compatible with specific liquid media and improving 

their dispersibility.

Overall, the excellent dispersibility of hydrophilic fumed silica makes it a valuable additive in a wide range of applications, 

including coatings, adhesives, sealants, and personal care products.
