PFA

PFA is short for perfluorooxygenyl, or Teflon under the DuPont trademark?PFA.PFA has a low coefficient of friction, so it has excellent non-viscous properties. It is a fairly soft polymer with high stress cracking resistance and resistance to almost all solvents and chemicals.PFA can also withstand high and low temperature conditions. It provides continuous service temperatures up to 260°C (500°F).PFA has excellent flame retardant, chemical stability and high dielectric strength.

FA piping is used in a variety of applications involving critical highly corrosive processes.PFA lining materials protect chemical equipment from corrosion.Other applications include filter housings, heat exchangers, pump housings, accessories, etc.Process Technology utilizes PFA in the construction of PIA series chemical heaters, Pulsar use point (POU) series heaters, XC series series exchangers, and X series.Immersion coil.

PTFE

PTFE is the most popular form of teflon and is a synthetic fluorine-containing polymer of tetrafluoroethylene. The other names of PTFE are Fluon and Syncolon. In 1938, dupont's Roy Plunkett stumbled upon PTFE and tried to make a non-flammable, non-toxic refrigerator coolant. It is a high molecular weight compound composed of carbon and fluorine (a fluorocarbon solid).PTFE is hydrophobic -- no, it's not afraid of water -- and won't get wet with water or anything that contains water. The high electronegativity of fluorine gives PTFE a very low coefficient of friction in contact with solids, giving it the well-known "smoothness".Other properties of PTFE include high chemical resistance, low and high temperature properties,

PTFE has many applications, such as non-stick coatings for POTS and cookers. Its nonreactivity makes it ideal for lining pipes, containers, and tanks with corrosive and reactive chemicals.PTFE is a special lubricant used in machinery to reduce energy consumption and reduce wear.PTFE is utilized by Process Technology in the construction of TIH and SHC on-line chemical heaters and Lufran ultrapure water heaters, HX series immersion heaters, X series immersion coils and LTFH high-temperature filter housings.

The difference between

When selecting the appropriate fluoropolymer for your process, consider some significant performance differences between the two fluoropolymers. The difference in alkoxy substituents allows PFA to be melted by conventional injection molding and screw extrusion techniques, whereas PTFE cannot. The PFA is more flexible but has a lower flexural life, so it cannot withstand repeated folds.PTFE has a slightly higher heat resistance, but less than fluidity, creep resistance, and thermal stability. The melting points of PFA and PTFE are 260°C and 327°C, respectively.Although PFA has better salt spray resistance, water absorption and weather resistance have greater influence on PFA than PTFE.Finally, the most significant difference between the two is that the dielectric strength of PFA is 3-4 times that of PTFE.

We hope this gives you a better understanding of these fluoropolymers!
