Characteristics
QX-151 is a Hydrophobic Fumed Silica after treated with DDS(Dimethyl based on a hydrophilic fume silica with a specific
surface area of 120 m2/g. It is a kind of high purity white colloidal powder.
Hydrophobic Fumed Silica Powder is a type of Silica Powder that has been treated to repel water. Fumed Silica is a high-
purity, fine particulate form of silicon dioxide, which is commonly found in nature as quartz. The hydrophobic treatment
involves chemically modifying the surface of the fumed silica particles to make them water-repellent.
The hydrophobic nature of this type of silica powder offers several advantages in various applications. It can improve the
flowability and handling of powders, prevent moisture absorption and clumping, enhance the dispersibility of powders in
liquids, and provide better rheological properties in coatings, adhesives, and sealants.
Hydrophobic fumed silica powder is commonly used in industries such as paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants,
pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food processing. It can be incorporated into formulations to improve the performance and
stability of products, enhance texture and feel, and prevent moisture-related issues.
Overall, hydrophobic fumed silica powder is a versatile material that offers unique properties and benefits in various applications
where water repellency and improved performance are desired.
Applications
1. RTV silicone sealants, especially electronic potting.
2. Adhesives and Sealants
3. Coatings, Inks.
4. Powder Coatings.
Properties
1. Thixotropy and reinforcement in RTV silicone sealants, the hydrophobic feature given RTV silicone sealants a long period
Shelf-life.
2. Rheology Control in adhesives.
3. Improvement of anti-settling, anti-sagging and thixotropy control.
4. Improve the free flow of powder coatings and anti-caking.
