The main functions of silicon dioxide is as filler or thickener in the wooden coatings.
There are several advantages below:
1. Adding silicon dioxide into the wood coatings can increase the coatings' hardness and scratches resistance: silica particle
be used as the filler that can fill the microholes and defects in the coatings. This can make the the surface of the coating
smoother, thereby increasing the hardness and wear resistance of the coating.
2.Adding silicon dioxide into the wood coatings can increase the coatings' glossy. Silica particle can reflect the flashing light
which can make the coatings' surface smoother. This can improve the coatings' glossy.
3. Adding silicon dioxide into the wood coatings can increase the coating absorpsion: silica particle can fill the wooden
surface small microholes which can extend the touching face between the coating and the woods. Though this way to
increase the coating's absorpsion.
4. Adding silicon dioxide into the wood coatings can reduce the cracking of the coatings. Silica particles can form a web
structure when adding it into the wood coatings. This special struture can enhance the cracking resistance ability which
can prevent to produce the cracking on the coating during using the coatings.
